In November 2012, Wendy worked with La Folia and Life Wisdoms charity to deliver a creative project responding to Dvořák’s fairy-tale opera Rusalka. Funded by a Big Lottery Awards for All grant, the project involved children from Broomhill Bank and Oakley Schools in Kent, both co-educational special schools supporting students with communication and interaction needs.

Over a series of weekly photography workshops, Wendy guided the children to explore themes from Rusalka—water, dreams, and growing up—through self-portrait photography, alongside a graphics project facilitated by Annabel Clements.

The project was highly successful, enabling participants to express emotions about growing up, develop new skills, and build confidence through creative engagement. The resulting photographs were exhibited at Broomhill Bank and also projected on stage as a prelude to a re-staged opera directed by La Folia and performed by the students.
