Through Luna Arts, Dagmara Rudkin (Sacred Wings) is developing a shroud-making project, offering individuals, families, and small groups the chance to co-design bespoke, handcrafted burial shrouds
A Sacred Wings shroud is a deeply personal creation: an object of love and intention, carrying a story within its folds and returning gently to the earth. Rooted in conversation and contemplation, this experience also invites reflection on legacy and connection. Whether undertaken as a single encounter or an ongoing collaboration, each commission becomes a personal journey, shaped through shared exploration of materials, colour, and meaning.
Dagmara also takes commissions to co-design a personal commemorative cloth, designed either to cover a coffin during a remembrance service or to serve as a memorial textile afterwards.
This project has been developed with the support of an Arts Council Project Grant and Arka Funerals, Brighton.
Shrouds are a legal alternative to coffins in the UK, providing a natural, sustainable option for burial. They comply with burial regulations and are accepted by all cemeteries that accept standard burials.
