Home / Songs of Belonging – Multimedia Performance Project

‘Songs of Belonging’ is an R&D immersive multimedia project devised and produced by composer Emily Levy, exploring themes of home and identity.

The project features global voices and stories, blurring boundaries between concert, film, and theatre while blending classical, folk, and experimental sounds.

The R&D phase began with recorded conversations with people from diverse circumstances—including relocation, displacement, or homelessness—informing the development of a live performance. Emily developed the work during a residency at Snape Maltings, Suffolk in August 2021, collaborating with dramaturg Mella Faye, musicians, and Wendy, who created video and immersive visual projections for the performance.

The project was supported by Sound and Music, Snape Maltings, New Voices, and Arts Council England.
